Fiio's tiny and extraordinary-sounding headphone amplifiers It seems like every time I write about a USB digital-to-analog converter or portable headphone amplifier I get a slew of reader e-mails requesting a review of one of Fiio's low-cost/high-performance audio components. The Fiio E17 DAC/headphone [...]
BrainWavz HM5 headphone review - The price of neutrality I probably spent at least 200 hours with these cans in the past month, using it on a number of devices: ASUS's Xonar Essence One, Fiio's X1 DAP, SilverStone's DAC & AMP combo, and even a smartphone paired with a Fiio E12. I also took my sweet time and [...]
5 high-end headphones that won't break the bank Testing was done with an iPhone 6+ using iTunes with Apple lossless music files (ALAC). I compared the headphones with the same songs using the iPhone by itself, a Fiio E12 amplifier ($129) and one of the best portable Amp/DACs (Digital to Analog [...]

Five Best Portable Headphone Amplifiers The FiiO E12 is a mid-range amplifier that's still small enough (and battery powered) to be considered portable. You can get a full 12 hours of juice out of this pocket-size amp, which measures around five inches by three inches. It weighs [...]
Even my hybrid tube amp sounds cleaner and smoother in comparison. The sound signature isn't that different but my other amps are cleaner and much more refined. Even the Asus STX jack. The Fiio E12 of course isn't better than the Superlux except for the fact that it is smooth, but not very clean either, and definitely not more refined than the Superlux. Not sure which is more refined between the Fiio and Superlux, didn't test the Fiio again. And it isn't involving. I have tried the headphone jack of Asus STX and FiiO E12, neither is anywhere near as loud, but both are better in this regard. In fact, I like clinical and analytical, but this isn't that good compared to other setups I have, trust me. The highs are slightly harsh. Again, I know I am emphasizing this, and I believe I may be overdoing it. Because in this price bracket it may be very good actually, but I have no idea whether that is or isn't so. The roughness isn't.

iFi Micro iDSD DSD512/PCM768/Double DXD DAC/Headphone Amp You can still see all customer reviews for the product. One of the 'best' DACs on the market for the price, but I did need to use my FIIO E12 to boost the power because of my AKG K712 headphones, My Shure SE846-CL Earphones don't require the extra 'boost ... BrainWavz HM5 headphone review - The price of neutrality Still, I gave 'em a try on portable set-ups including an un-amped Fiio X1 and a Nexus 5 paired with a Fiio E12, then moved to the home set-up, where I tried them on SilverStone's EB03 paired with EB01-E and ASUS Xonar Essence One. To compare them ... [...]
Fiio X1 DAP review - Setting a new bar Before going in, I have to mention that I am not one to use audiophile type DAPs. I like my smartphone (Nexus 5) paired with an exterior AMP (Fiio E12). I have become familiar with Cyanogenmod as well as the ability to tailor the sound with various apps ... [...]
FiiO's nifty $200 portable high-resolution music player is a knockout Sure, Astell & Kern has two perfectly fine players, the $699 AK100 and the $1,299 AK120, but FiiO smashed the high-resolution music player price barrier with the X3, which lists for $299, but which sells for $200 on Amazon and most other online retail sites. More impressions of the Fiio E12 Mont Blanc Headphone AmpFurther to my post with my initial impressions I thought I would some more feedback using specific tracks. For this test I am using an iPod Classic with a silver & copper line out cable and a pair of Sennheiser HD568 headphones. My music is ripped at mp3 320 bit rate. I have the E12 bass boost left on as the HD568 seem to sound so much better. The bass boost doesn’t seem to distort the sound, just add when the music needs some very...

As someone who owns a big set of cumbersome Klipsch bookshelf speakers, I can understand the pain having a not-smart audio setup can cause. My speakers are tethered to my amplifier, which is tethered to my DAC, which is tethered to my PC. Sure, I have a Moto Stream and I like it, but I have to switch audio inputs to use it and I don't exactly need wireless audio at my desk, given that I have said setup. But what about in the kitchen? The bedroom? The living room? The... bathroom (???)? Well,...
