Review: A Mobile DAC/Headphone Amp Comparison The proliferation of truly mobile audio devices (post-Walkman/Discman), starting with the iPod, has made music-on-the-go a new norm, something taken for granted. Along the way, the audio quality declined rapidly thanks to compression, ear-bud junk  [...]

Fiio's tiny and extraordinary-sounding headphone amplifiers Pricing may be solidly in the affordable range, but don't for a second conclude Fiio's components aren't beautifully designed little gems. I requested two recently introduced USB DAC/headphone amps to review, the $80 E10 and the $140 E17, and they did [...]

Fiio's tiny and extraordinary-sounding headphone amplifiers - CNET

6 inch by 2. 2 inches by 3. 75 inches--so it's a little smaller than my iPod Classic. The E17's DAC runs up to 96KHz over the USB input, but goes to 192KHz over its optical digital input. It has a 3. 5mm analog input you can hook up to an iPod, iPhone, or any portable music player. Fit and finish are superb: the all-metal E17 looks and feels like a high-end product. The E17 sounded even better than the E10. I could hear "deeper" into my recordings, so the quieter sounds of reverberation and ambience were newly evident. Bass was just as deep, but the tactile feel of bass drums was remarkable.

Cowon C2: the Real D2 Successor - Anything But iPod

I do love my D2, but there are a few things I would improve if I could: larger screen (guess I’m getting older), true random play, more sensitive touch-screen, and more real buttons to use. I still think the J3 and possibly the D3 are devices I could upgrade to, but the C2 is just a bad joke. Cowon have bombed with the awful D3 and cobbled a rehash of the D2 together in the last few months to boost sales. You know it’s very typical of extremist Cowonites to diss on Apple, but the truth is that their product innovation puts these clowns at Cowon to shame in the last few years. I am still happy with my S9 i bought in 2010. I dont see any point of upgrading to anything else at the moment. I got S9 in a time J3 was avaible but i liked the curved design of S9 so i just themed it to look like J3. D3 is buggy so not now.

FiiO E10K Olympus2 for DT880 I need a second opinion on the capabilities of the E10K. I have a pair of 250Ohm DT880s, and of course the problem is that the E10K is rated up to 150Ohm. Some people seem to think it will drive my cans no problem, but I really want to be sure. My Realtek ... [...]

The E10K Olympus 2 by FiiO

Sound ImpressionsNow lets get to the good part of the review. Lets talk about the sound of the thing. I was first impressed by the original E10 for its great bang for the buck factor even though it may have lacked some technical prowess over more expensive dac/amps but with the E10K Olympus 2, FiiO has managed to improve on the E10 successfully by adding more extension to the highs and better dynamics without losing the musicality of the old version. I don’t have the old E10 with me anymore...

The E10K Olympus 2 by FiiO

I know I have reviewed the FiiO E10 on this site before but I felt that since I really liked those when it came out that I should review the latest version as well. I don’t know what FiiO did to the first update to the E10 with the first Olympus model since I missed that one, but after listening to the latest version of the e10, I can say that they have got themselves another winner.Unboxing Before talking about the sound, let’s talk about the unboxing and setup. Opening the box, what you...
