I bought a used Sounddock without the power cable (it was a floor model apparently). Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to find a replacement? Bose apparently discontinued that type of power supply to I'd have to send it in and have it re-fitted for a new power source... Same problem here- someone forced the pins into the power cord plug the wrong way and now the pins are slightly crooked and I need a new cord. What can I do??
Repair may the only solution. The new power supply is only slightly different though.. If you don't want to spent the $100 to repair this, you could get the new supply and carve a notch in the top part of the square power input.. Looking at the new power supply, the top is a bit taller and arched but the same specs..
But the new power supply is still expensive. (I think $60+) So for an additional $40 ($100 total) you can get a new supply retrofitted on to the old input. It's worth it- you get a new 1 year warranty, and they put the new Apple dock connector on there (USB charge pin) as well as the power supply, so you can use current iPods as well as old. (Your SD currently won't support- iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 2ng gen, or iPod Nano 4th gen.. it will after a repair)

May 20, 2013 | Bose SoundDock digital music system...1 Answer I have a BOSE soundock portable and I have to replace my connector at the end of the power supply. What is the size of the connector.
Bose uses a proprietary connector for their power supply. Your best bet would be to purchase one, for example at this site: http://www.frontrowelectronics.com/bose-power-supply-sounddock-series-1-white.aspx?utm_source=googleBase&utm_medium=referal&utm_campaign=Bose
The four pin connector is not standard and cannot be found in stores such as Radio Shack, etc.

Unfortunately there is no real fix for this. Apple changed the charging from USB to Firewire, so the old charging methods don't work anymore. I purchased an adapter somewhere on the internet that worked with some devices and not with others, but I can't remember where I got it from.
You will either have to wait for apple to change it, or bose to find a work around, or get a new unit.

You need to reset your ipod. You can go online to find out how to do this. I had to do it with mine and then it worked perfectly.

This is true. The new iPod nano is not compatible with the original SoundDock. This only means that it won't charge the iPod's power. Audio should be okay. This is an Apple issue. They changed the way almost all of their iPods charge (except the iPod classic). Bose can upgrade the SoundDock for their normal repair fee of $99. This would also you a new 1 year warranty.
Jun 23, 2009 | Bose SoundDock digital music system...4 Answers Bose sound dock doesn't work at all
If this is the original SoundDock, the power supply in back is 4 pronged and a pin could be broken. If it makes a quiet thumping sound, then just make sure the power supply is not plugged in upside down (it's easy enough to do).
If this is the SoundDock II or the SoundDock portable, it's hard to say why this would happen, so you should call Bose on that one. There should be an indicator light that tells you when it has power..
Jun 19, 2009 | Bose SoundDock iPod Digital Music system...2 Answers Does the new bose dock station charge the new ipod touch (32g)?
The new SoundDock II charges your new iPod touch and is fully compatible all iPods and the iPhone 3G. Also the SoundDock Portable will do this. But..
Better news-> Call Bose. They can upgrade the 30-pin connector to charge via USB-only and function with the remote as well. $99. This will make your iPod touch 100% compatible and somewhat future-proof your SoundDock. If the SoundDock was purchased within 90 days (at full retail price), they will do the upgrade for a smaller fee or even free I think.. (new 1 year warranty given with repair/mod) btw- This is an Apple issue, not a Bose issue. All 3rd party iPod connection devices had to make this change at some point.
